Overview of the Entity Configuration

Who can use this feature?

Only the Application Owner role can use this feature.

The Entity Configuration (EC) enables you to configure your ITONICS platform according to your needs. Read through the article below, to learn how to use the Entity Configuration effectively.

What is part of the Entity Configuration?

Dynamically adapting based on active modules

The configuration options in the Entity Configuration dynamically adapt to the activated modules and visualizations (which depend on your license) - meaning that activated modules impact the scope of the EC. Some further parts of the EC are unlocked if more modules are activated, such as the Radar Configuration or the Table Configuration.

The initial scope of the Entity Configuration

The following parts of the Entity Configuration are available after the initial setup:

  • Entity Configuration - Configure basic information and activate/deactivate features.
  • Field Configuration - Choose and configure fields that hold values.
  • Group Field Configuration - Define fields that belong logically together so that they are visually grouped on the create/edit/view page of an entity.
  • View Configuration - Configure the layout of the entity detail page.
  • Form Configuration - Configure the layout of the entity creation page.
  • Permission Configuration - Configure entity-specific permissions for the entity type.
  • Translate - Apply translations for the entity title in all active languages.

Always make sure to configure the Field-, View-, Form- and Permission Configuration of an Entity Type as these configurations define the Entity's basic structure.

Example: Scope after adding a visualization

After adding a visualization to the Entity Type for the first time, in this example the ITONICS Radar, the Radar Configuration Tab is available in the Entity Configuration of this Entity:

Important to know

Changes have immediate effects on your ITONICS platform

Keep in mind that all changes in the Entity Configuration have an impact on your ITONICS platform and are sometimes not reversible. If you have any questions, contact your responsible Customer Innovation Success Manager for advice.

Consider the order of editing

Take into account that the Entity Configuration dynamically adapts to the activated modules and visualizations, therefore the order of changes to the Entity Configuration matters. For example, you have to add fields (via the Field Configuration) before you can add them to a group field (via the Group Field Configuration).

How to work with the Entity Configuration

Find the Entity Configuration

Go to Settings > Entity Configuration > Entity Configuration to open the Entity Manager. In order to enter the Entity Configuration of an Entity, click on the Edit button of an Entity.

Main entry points
