Content View Configuration

What is it?

To create, edit, and view content in the application, ITONICS offers different layout options. The View Configuration defines the layout of how the content of a specific entity is shown to a viewer.

How does it work?

How do I configure the detail page view?

Go to the Settings Wheel > Entity Configuration > Entity Configuration. Click on the Edit button of an entity and navigate to the View Configuration tab.

All enabled fields of your entity are displayed in the very right column (1).

To make the desired field visible on the element detail view, drag the available field either to the main area (2) or to the right sidebar (3) depending on where you want it to be seen.

Please note: It is not recommended to use Rich Text Fields on the right sidebar. RTFs can have any contents with images, table format etc that can be added or imported by the users. This may cause display errors on the detail page/side view and pdf export.

The fields in the rightmost column will not be visible (4). When ready, click the Save button.

Please note: If a field was visible and contains some kind of content or information and is placed in the rightmost column, it will continue to be visible as long as the content/information is filled in.

View

On the image below you can see the detail page view of an element. In order for the defined content to appear on your element, it is important that the corresponding fields in the main area (5) and in the sidebar (6) have been filled in during content creation. Please see also the article about the Create and Edit Form Configuration.

Please note: The List Field type Pearl Chain and Pearl Chain with check do not appear in the view configuration, because they are always displayed at the same place on the elements detail page view. This cannot be changed.

How to add a tab to an Entity?

Click the + Add Tab button in the View Configuration menu (7).

Add

After clicking, a new window opens:

Create Tab.png

It contains the following information:

  • Title: The title of the tab. If you are using a multi-lingual system, you have to add the title in all active languages.
  • Show Relations?: If you want to display all related elements at the bottom of this tab, check this box. On the details tab, this is enabled by default. If you don't want the relations to be displayed in multiple tabs, you have to disable them in the tab settings of the respective tab.

    edit

Once you have added all the mandatory information, hit the Save button. The tab will then be created and placed next to the other tabs.

You are able to update your information whenever you choose (change the title, uncheck the relation box and add/remove users) by clicking on the pencil icon next to the tab name. The same popup will then appear.

Tabs created from the View Configuration will be displayed on the detail page of an Element.

Tabs created from the Form Configuration will be displayed on the Create element page of an Entity.

Please note: Some tabs appear automatically when certain settings have been made, e.g. Rating Configuration or activation of Modules like Roadmap or Signals.

How do I make a tab confidential?

If you want to restrict access to a tab, you can create a confidential tab.

Note: This functionality has to be activated by ITONICS. Please contact your Customer Innovation Success Manager for further assistance.

To add a new confidential tab, go to Settings > Entity Configuration > Entity Configuration. Then click on the Edit (Pencil icon) next to the Entity you want to edit. Select the View Configuration and/or Form Configuration and click the Add Tab button.

  • Show Relations?: If you want to have relations displayed under this tab, check this box.
  • Access To: You can select other users, roles or user groups who will then have access to this tab.

Please note: If no user is entered in the Access To field, all users who have the respective Create/Display/Edit permission (depending on whether the tab is in the Create/Edit/View form) can view this tab.

How do I display specific users in a separate user tiles tab?

If you want to you can contextualize the meaning certain users have with respect to a content element. For instance, a user can be an idea manager, sponsor, associate, coach, or alike.

To indicate such meanings, you can use User Search Fields and name them accordingly. You can now either display such fields regularly via the view configuration options as described above or you can show all named users and their specific meanings in a separate tab. This tab is called the User Tiles Tab.

To enable the User Tiles Tab menu in the Entity Configuration menu, you need to create a User Search Field in the Field Configuration first. Here, you can name the user tab and enter all user search fields that should be part of this specific tab.

Note: You can select only User Search Fields that has been created on the same entity.

The User Tiles Tab is visible on the details page of the associated element, but not in the view/form configuration. On the tab you can see all assigned people and also apply as a future member.

How do I add labels to my content cards?

Sometimes, additional information that is directly accessible without having to open up the content element is very helpful. You have the option to display a single label (in the example below: "Concept") for the element cards. This can be defined individually per entity.

trust

Go to the Settings WheelEntity Configuration → → Entity Configuration. Choose your Entity typeEdit ButtonTile View Configuration. By clicking on the window under Dynamic Flag you can select the field to be displayed as a label on the card at the bottom right.

TVThe following field types can be selected:

  • List field (Dropdown)
  • List field (Searchable Dropdown) → Note: only the first value will be shown
  • List field (Pearl Chain)
  • List field (Pearl Chain with check)

Once added, the labels can be seen everywhere, where cards are used. For example, on the standard landing page, Explorer, or in the Element-Show under each module. Note that the coloring of the label will follow the brand primary color defined for the system.

How do I configure the sidebar view?

Use this configuration to define which fields and in which order shall be placed on the element sidebar view, respectively preview of an element. Navigate to System > Entity Configuration > Entity Configuration and select the entity type for which you want to configure the sidebar view. In the respective entity type’s entity configuration, navigate to the Sidebar Configuration tab.

Once you have clicked on the tab, the sidebar configurator opens. Similarly to the view configuration, a backlog of fields that are configured for this entity type are shown in the right panel of the page. You can decide which fields shall be dragged and dropped into the Sidebar panel in the middle of the configuration page.

The following field types are available for positioning:

  • Creator, Abstract, Ratings, and Relations

  • User search fields
  • Element search fields
  • List fields (except field renderers of type Pearl chain and Pearl chain with check)
  • Single-line input fields (incl. number fields and calculated fields)
  • Location search fields

The set ordering of the element sidebar view for an entity type does apply to the Explorer, Radar, Matrix, Board, Network Graph, Tag Cloud, and Roadmap. Additionally, on the roadmap element sidebar, if available for the respective element, the element Connections and Milestone Connections sections will be displayed at the end of the sidebar ordering.

Note that for the blueprint entity types provided by ITONICS, until the sidebar configuration is further configured, respectively adjusted, the following default ordering of fields will be provided:

  • Creator
  • Abstract
  • Segment fields
  • Ratings
  • Relations
  • Element Connections (if element connection information is available, on the roadmap element sidebar view)
  • Milestone Connections (if element connection information is available, on the roadmap element sidebar view)
