Configuring the Inspirator app

What is it?

ITONICS offers the ITONICS Inspirator mobile app that allows to enter interesting content into your ITONICS application on the go. The app can be used at exhibitions, conferences, meetings, or wherever users are to capture spontaneous ideas, new trends, or any other inspiring observation. The app is an entirely complementary add-on to the ITONICS Innovation OS Enterprise application and can be configured as per need.

How does it work?

Please note: This feature needs to be activated by ITONICS. Please contact your Customer Success Manager for further assistance.

The ITONICS Inspirator app supports the configuration and set up of multiple entity types, i.e. enabling to capture Ideas and Trends simultaneously. In order to activate the Inspirator app for a particular entity type, navigate to Settings Wheel > Entity Configuration > Entity Manager and select the desired entity type. Within the entity type, you will now see a module/feature card called Inspirator.

Activate the module on the entity by selecting the checkbox and saving the configuration. Once enabled, a new Inspirator Configuration tab becomes available in the Entity Configuration, while clicking on the Inspirator Configuration tab will open two sub tabs.

(1) Inspirator Form Configuration:

Within the Inspirator Form Configuration sub tab, similar to the View Configuration or (Edit/Create) Form Configuration, a configuration page opens with a backlog of available fields on the right (2). Drag and drop the desired fields into the form editor (1) on the left side to configure the form layout for the respective entity in the Inspirator app. If required, you can adjust the wording of the primary tab, or add a new tab (3). Do not forget to click Save to confirm the form layout (4).

Note: In the case of the Inspirator app, be aware that there is no equivalent View Configuration. Instead, both the view form, respectively the placement of the fields on the detail page, as well as the create and edit form are controlled from the same, joint Inspirator Form Configuration.

Thereby, the following field types are available within the Inspirator app:

  1. Single-line input fields (renderer type Text, Number, URL, Email)
  2. Simple text fields
  3. Rich text fields
  4. Reference field
  5. Term search fields (Tags)
  6. User search fields
  7. Element search fields
  8. Hierarchical/segment fields
  9. Date picker fields
  10. Profile image field
  11. List fields

Note: The following field types are not available in the Inspirator app: user group search fields, location search fields, file fields, the same applies for group fields. Instead, the fields assigned to a group field in the underlying ITONICS system are listed as individually selectable fields in the Inspirator Form Configuration.

Note: If the workflow module is enabled for the underlying entity type, the field chosen as the workflow field (i.e. workflow pearl chain) will not be available for configuration for the Inspirator app.

Note: Confidential fields will be available for selection for permitted users in the Inspirator Form Configuration, however, the system will validate in the app itself, whether the currently logged-in user is included in the confidentiality for a particular field. If not, the user will not see the respective field in the app.

(2) Inspirator Filter Configuration:

Within the Inspirator Filter Configuration, you can configure for which fields a filter should be available for the corresponding entity type in the Inspirator app. Hereby, the selection works similar to the Filter Configuration, where under the Actions column click the “X” icon to disable the particular filter. Vice versa, clicking on the “check mark” icon of a disabled filter will allow you to re-enable it.

Note: This configuration is required to prevent the display of large amounts of unnecessary filters within the app, to maintain performance. Per default, the configuration of up to 20 filters per entity type is allowed.

Note: Filters for hierarchy / segment filters are not available in the Inspirator App as of now, though selectable in the Inspirator Filter Configuration (known limitation). Similarly, user group search fields are not yet available.

After initial activation and configuration of the required fields and filters, the entity type will become available in the Inspirator mobile app if logging in with the underlying ITONICS system domain.
