What is it?
In general, the main navigation bar on top of your application cannot be configured - except for hiding the secondary menu and for using HTML code to create a custom page.
Such a custom page can be helpful, for instance, to name contact persons, to add a FAQ section, integrate external reports such as PowerBI reports, or to link training material.
How does the Custom menu configuration work?
Once the feature is activated by your Customer Innovation Success Manager, navigate to the Settings Wheel > Custom menu configuration.
Click on the "Add new custom menu" button on the Manage Custom Menu page. A new window opens, from which you can provide a title for the custom menu per system language and configure the page content. The menu content section is a Rich Text Field.
You can also add your HTML-code here. If you set the status to "Active", it will then appear in the top navigation bar.
To manage who should be able to view the content of a custom menu, basically restricting the access to a custom menu, navigate back to the table overview of the Manage Custom Menu page. Click the key icon to Define the access for an individual custom menu.
The Access To popup modal will open, where, similar to the confidential configuration for tabs on the detail page via the View Configuration, you can define individual users, user groups, roles, and contexts to receive view access to the respective custom menu. Click Save to save the access configuration. If a user is included in the view restriction, s/he will then see the custom menu as an item in the main navigation bar.
If there are any queries on the management of access permissions, please talk to your Customer Innovation Success Manager, or the ITONICS support.
How to show/hide the secondary menu?
The secondary menu is the menu that appears when you hover over one of the entries in the main navigation bar. If you want to hide the secondary menu, you need to navigate to the Settings Wheel > System Administration > Landing Page > Landing Page Menu.
Here, you will find a checkbox to hide the secondary menu. This way, only the main navigation bar entries (e.g., Home, Explorer, Matrix, Radar, Roadmap, or Tag Cloud) will be shown.
